Dear GeODin customers,
it's time: GeODin 9 is now officially available. In this version, besides improvements in general performance, there are many new functions in the areas of data and measurement acquisition,
additional tools in our integrated GIS and further features for desktop and server editions. On our new website you will find an overview of the many new features.
Module compilations
From Version 9 onwards GeODin is only available in the two module combinations GeODin Essentials (Logs and Site) and GeODin Professional (Logs, Site, Client/Server, Labs, Maps and Extension for
ArcGIS). This allows us to make licence prices much more attractive for the majority of GeODin customers.
If your GeODin licence includes one of the modules Labs, Maps, Client/Server or the extension for ArcGIS you will receive the Professional Edition when you update to GeODin 9. Otherwise your
licence will be upgraded to the Essentials Edition when you update to GeODin 9.
All previous GeODin Server Editions will be replaced by GeODin Portal. GeODin Portal is now only available as a rental option. Customers who currently use Portal Server features and wish to
upgrade to GeODin 9 are kindly requested to contact GeODin Support. More information about prices and ordering
options can be found in our online shop.
Current offers
In addition, we currently offer a 25% discount on all updates, training and support hours until 31 December 2020. GeODin customers who have already signed an active software
maintenance contract (in future GeODin+) for a licence prior to the release of GeODin 9 can update an existing Essentials Edition to Professional at an even lower price (for
1000,- € per licence) during this period.
Update to GeODin 9
In our Help centre you will find, amongst other information,
a short guide on how to upgrade to GeODin 9 and what to look out for when updating.
As versions 8 and 9 are only partially compatible with each other, we recommend that you make a backup of your databases and layouts and your Syslib directory
before updating to GeODin 9. Databases created and edited with GeODin 9 can only be opened with GeODin versions 9 or 8.4. Layouts edited and saved with GeODin 9 are no longer compatible with
older versions. More details can be found in the article linked above.
All customers who wish to continue working with GeODin 8 can use GeODin 8.4 to open and edit version 9 databases. GeODin 8.4 is available as a free download for all GeODin 8
customers. The GeODin 8.4 executable file can be downloaded here and placed in the BIN folder of your GeODin installation. The latest version of GeODin 9 can be found here.
The distribution of updated licences for GeODin+ customers will take place in August/September. If you have not received your new licence files by 30 September 2020 please inform
GeODin Support. They will then contact you as soon as possible.
