GeODin intranet & internet geo-solution
The GeODin Image Server module was designed specifically for use on an information server (e.g. in-house custom programs, GIS applications, internet information servers, map servers etc.). The module makes data available by presenting the contents graphically in a front end program, directly from a GeODin database.
The GeODin Image Server is not started directly by the user but via a client application which accesses and presents thedata, typically in a web browser. The end-user does not see or use the GeODin GUI and hence needs no knowledge ortraining in the use of GeODin.
Connections & configuration
The GeODin Image Server has a number of documented connection modules which are dedicated to providing GeODin information to other applications.
One such module provided is the GeODin Web Service, which in combination with a web server (z.B. Microsoft Internet Information Server or Apache for Windows) has the task of producing HTML pages with a graphical presentation of GeODin database objects with a set of controls for the end-user. The integration of the GeODin Web Service in existing applications can be accomplished with only a few configuration steps and does not require knowledge of the GeODin Image Server connection modules.
The GeODin Image Server comes with detailed documentation, test modules and examples that make the integration in existing applications straightforward.
Case studies:
You can access the borehole database of Lower Saxony over the internet
Another example is the borehole database of Saxony Anhalt which is freely accessible on the web.
