GeODin Client/Server

Work with professional server databases

The GeODin Client/Server module allows you to store your data using client/server databases such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL-Server, PostgreSQL or MySQL.

The integration of GeODin in a client/server environment opens the door to managing, editing and interpreting unlimited amounts of data and hence is the optimal solution for large companies with a central database, or government organisations with a borehole archive. Indeed GeODin is used exactly for these reasons in Germany by all geological and many environmental authorities.

In addition to the SQL database itself, there are the topics of data integrity, file access, user profile etc. that allow  GeODin Client/Server  to be completely integrated in an existing database system. Data models that diverge from the GeODin table structure can be exported as views and so allow graphical interpretation and analysis of the data with GeODin within an existing environmental information system.

In addition the  GeODin Client/Server  module supports such database services as back-up consistency and user rights. All this is possible with the minimum of configuration in GeODin either by an OLE DB-Provider or ODBC. The GeODin user has exactly the same GUI as with a local database - all the technical database management is carried out in the background.

By centrally managing data, the ability to query it becomes far more powerful - for instance accessing all project information in a database becomes a reality - you are not limited to just one set of projects stored in separate local databases.  GeODin Client/Server  helps you in this migration process from a desktop database to a client/server environment so that nothing stands in the way of creating a central database solution.
